TERMS OF CREATION
- VERY OPEN SPECIES literally do whatever u want you can make adopts and ocs and etc
- The lore is very loose and you're free to alter whatever you want for personal universes, make additional subspecies, etc
- A Doll Beast can appear like any species of creature, even other original species (if they allow it)

LORE - BREAKDOWN

Basics
- Magic dolls that also turn into monsters
Appearance
- 1 Spirit and 1 Doll form (similar in appearance)
- Usually look like beasts, but they can look like normal creatures or even humans
(these ones are often called "Mimics", and they can live among us, masquerading as normal people/animals).
- Can move in doll form, but they're made of cloth so they're weak af
- Spirit form is normally solid and corporeal
- May switch between either form or use both at once (but the Spirit form cannot go far from their Doll body).
Survival
- Eat human emotion
- Good beasts live off of love & joy and will often seek out a human child to befriend (child thinks they're a normal toy)
- Evil beasts live off of hate & nasty stuff and are therefore cruel to people
- Beasts will defend their human friend(s) (if they have any)
Creation
- Somehow, a bunch of energy gives a toy a magical soul
- Usually when a child loves a toy very much so that it eventually acquires conscience
- Other ways (witchcraft, etc) could be possible so use your imagination! Somehow, a doll has a soul

Social
- Doll Beasts have diverse personalities (often based off what was given to them by their First Human)
- They don't often interact with each other--some can go years without knowing that other doll beasts even exist
- Doll Beasts can detect other Doll Beasts
- Good and Evil doll beasts are instinctive enemies
- Doll Beasts technically have no biological gender but will usually identify as whatever gender was given to them by their creator
Life
- Doll Beasts live forever unless their Doll form is burned or their Spirit form decapitated
- Doll Beasts cannot reproduce (they wouldn't often have the desire to anyway, considering they aren't often social with each other--though a magic-user can technically create a custom-made mock-offspring)
Energy
- Doll Beasts originate in a world just like our real one, but can exist in AUs dominated by other species (and can receive energy from any creature with human-level intelligence)
- Beasts don't actually need that much energy, and most of their time with humans is spent Storing Up energy for emergencies. Children grow up eventually, leaving their dolls behind--Dolls must make sure to store up enough energy for when this happens, so that they can last long enough to find some other source. They can last years on their own.
- Doll Beasts don't die from lack of energy; rather, they become very fatigued and Ravenous. As its easier to scare someone than befriend them, Ravenous beasts will often become Evil out of desperation.
- They don't have to get energy from just 1 human, or even be the one to cause the energy. Other ideas for sources include schoolrooms (where they get energy from every child), fake haunted houses around Halloween (where evil beasts can just sit around and feed off of fear), or a toy mascot sitting on the shelf of a small restaurant.
- Doll Beasts cannot give other Doll Beasts energy.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Q: What about alternate universes that aren't populated by humans/have other humanoids (e.g. anthros)?
A: They can get energy from anything with human-level intelligence (or beyond)
Q: What materials can the dolls be made out of?
A: I would imagine that stiff materials (plastic, metal, etc) takes more energy to bend than flexible materials (cloth) and so would probably be rarer, but that's up to you
Q: Can they have magical powers?
A: Sure, but they'd probably be related to how they were created (e.g. if a child imagines that their doll has magical powers, that Doll-Beast will probably have those magical powers), and would take more Energy to cast magic.
